What is Web Gadgets?

Web Gadgets are the software wizard from the web. Gadgets are single service applications which means that they are little windows and boxes that serve a single purpose. It's a small application that can be installed and executed within a web page by an end user. Gadgets can help you keep track of what you need to do such as keep track of the time, date, make calculations, conversions, weather and map. Besides, Gadgets can also help you keep track of RSS Feeds, your website's traffic and a numerous of other functions. They are derived from the idea of code reuse.  Sometimes it is also called as Widgets.
Gadgets are familiar with widgets but they have slightly differences. Widgets are generated with html code that can be copied and pasted anywhere that HTML like websites, blogs, social networks and etc. A widget is a stand alone application that can be embedded into third party sites by any user on a page where they have rights of authorship (e.g. a webpage, blog, or profile on a social media site). It allow users to turn personal content into dynamic web apps that can be shared on websites where the code can be installed.
On the other hand, gadgets cannot be copied and pasted in anywhere. They can only be used in specific website or operating system they are designed for. For example, gadgets that are designed for Yahoo can only be used in yahoo or other yahoo service.
Basically, both of them gadgets and widgets are very useful and powerful in order to make our website more interesting and attractive.
